Astronauts onboard the International Space Station enjoy spectacular views of the aurora australis, the southern hemisphere's counterpart to the Northern Lights.

The rare footage was captured by the International Space Station as its orbit passed 200 miles above eastern Australia and Antarctica on Sept 11 2011.
